SHAWN MONROE RICE
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Shawn Pleimann is a multi medium artist specializing in hot cast bronze currently residing in Minneapolis, MN. Shawn was born in San Francisco, CA and had the unique upbringing of splitting her time between New York City and the Central Coast of California. Shawn received her degree from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, CA. Post graduation Shawn remained active in the arts doing freelance works for various businesses, newspapers, and individual clients. Shawn’s current endeavor, Shawn Monroe Rice Fine Arts, is focused on creating one of a kind bespoke creations for her clientele. Her commissioned works include drawings, paintings, and various sculptors - both small and large scale installations.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Growing up with an artist father, an architect dad, and a sculptor grandfather, I have been exposed to the arts for as long as I can remember. Their influence and works have been a constant inspiration to me as I pursue my own ambitions in the art world.
I have always been fascinated with nature and all it entails. It is my inspiration! I am also inspired by the beginning of the bronze age of man. Most of my work is 'Hot Cast' bronze. I sculpt in a way that shows an emphasis on balance, harmony, movement and rhythm giving my creations an 'organic' feeling. Every living thing has beauty, character and I try to show this."
My sketchbook is always close at hand, so I am constantly drawing, perfecting my ideas. Sometimes the drawings are left in the sketchbook and other times they develop into more in-depth ideas and images that ultimately morph into a beautiful three dimensional bronze work.
Each project consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings.
